The Cold Can self-chilling device is a joint venture with Webinvent Pty Ltd. The developed prototype trials have demonstrated an in-can liquid temperature drop from 24.5°C to 3.5°C in 40 seconds.
Cold Can is primarily designed to provide cold drinks to personnel in the field (where refrigeration is not available) so as to reduce personal body core temperature, promote a more rapid rehydration and to facilitate recovery from heat stroke following strenuous physical activities by soldiers, athletes, players of sports and outdoor workers.
The technological capability has been demonstrated and discussions instigated with potential partners to undertake product development and commercialisation.
