The Medi-Vac Cooler (Provisional Patent PQ4988) is a medical use, self-chilling unit for applications that necessitate quick and immediate chilling of biopsy materials, blood and tissue samples as well as transplant organs such as kidney, heart, lung, cornea and IVF frozen eggs prior to transporting inter-hospital, to pathology or laboratory locations.

The Medi-Vac Cooler operation does not require loose, refrigerated cooling packs, as it is self-chilling/freezing with the ability to maintain low temperatures for long periods, by using an environmentally friendly gas.

It is primarily designed for use in locations where refrigerated cooling packs are not available or for distance transporting where the maintenance of Cooler contents at low temperature is a critical factor.

Our medical research has identified the requirement for a temperature maintenance capability in the transportation of fresh frozen plasma and clotting factors from blood banks, as currently, frozen blood is placed in an insulated container and then by arrival at point of use it has thawed.
