HVL~CO

Following an ADF SO request, Poly Systems Pty Ltd successfully demonstrated the live fire technological capability of this non gunpowder system in 7.62 calibre on the 20 June 2001, at Pontville Military Firing Range, Tasmania, before Army, Navy, State Police Ballistics and Special Operations personnel.

The technology is applicable from hand guns through to 300mm launchers offering negligible infra-red and audible signatures. There is also a 70% weight reduction over current weapons with a comparable or higher cyclic rate of fire. Manufactured from composite plastics, the weapons are difficult to detect because of low magnetic signature.

HVL~CO 7.62mm MK2
The MK2 7.62mm has been further developed with operational pressures of 14500psi achieving velocities of 440 metres per second and we are now advancing into higher pressures.

HVL~CO 20mm Calibre Canon
A development program has been initiated to research and develop the HVL~CO Weapon System in to larger calibres. Poly Systems has sourced a 20mm barrel and the design of supporting hardware and management systems has commenced. Further information updates will be added regularly.

Present Status
Department of Defence Approval-in-Principle has been granted for negotiations regarding the technology with identified parties in UK, Israel, India, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.

The following photos are of the HVL~CO 7.62mm MK2 test-fixture with test equipment for input and output of energy, management system and chronograph. This system is currently achieving 440 metres per second at a discharge pressure of 14500psi. The HVL~CO 7.62mm MK2 has been tested to pressures above 23000psi.
